Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War might be mere days from release, but Activision is far from finished supporting the immensely popular free-to-play battle royale Call Of Duty: Warzone.

While the latest instalment of the FPS franchise launches November 13th, we won't actually see the first season of Warzone/Black Ops Cold War content until December. We can expect all kinds of new content when the two titles integrate, of course, including new weapons, skins, and even entirely new locations to explore.

Previous rumours have already suggested that Warzone will be getting an entirely new map that ties in more closely with Black Ops Cold War, but a new report suggests that we can expect to see the return of Alcatraz in some form. The infamous prison island has featured in various Call Of Duty titles over the years, and a recently uncovered datamine paired with an official tease suggests it's coming to the battle royale.

As we reported last week, Activision's official Season 1 roadmap for Warzone X Black Ops Cold War includes a "classified Warzone experience". Most agreed this was likely in reference to the long-rumoured map change, but the recent discovery of something called Rebirth Island hidden within that tease has ignited speculation that it's referring to Alcatraz.

There are a few factors that support the inclusion of Alcatraz. The first is that we have seen it in previous Call Of Duty battle royales, most notably Call Of Duty: Mobile and Blackout, the battle royale from Black Ops IIII. The fact it's a prison area also heavily implies that it could be replacing the current Gulag area, although whether or not it'll be added to the current Verdansk map or is an unannounced area for the new map remains to be seen.

If I had to guess, I'd say Alcatraz will be the Gulag-style area for whatever new map Warzone has planned for us, but it's unlikely we'll know more about these plans until closer to the time. Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War arrives on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on November 13th.
