'Dark Souls 3' Played Using Ring Fit Is The Ultimate Workout

'Dark Souls 3' Played Using Ring Fit Is The Ultimate Workout

And it actually works.

If you've played any of the Souls games, you'll be familiar with how they can test your mental endurance, along with your physical reactions as you learn an enemy's attack patterns and moves. And until you reach that point where the game clicks, you may be wondering why you're putting yourself through the torture.

Take a minute then to appreciate just what YouTuber Super Louis 64 put himself through when he decided to modify a Ring Fit Adventure controller in order to play Dark Souls 3 (thanks, PCGamesN). So how exactly does it work?

Basically, Louis has to be jogging on the spot - thanks to the leg strap - in order for his character to move or dodge an incoming attack. If he wants his character to perform an attack of his own, he has to squeeze the Ring controller and, hilariously, he's set up his Estus Flask (health pot) to be used whenever he squats.

You can see the whole set-up in action in the video above (here's a direct link) - and what's surprising is that it actually works. You even get to see him take down a couple of the bosses in the game.

"This Dark Souls x Ring Fit Adventure controller is a legit good workout," he says in the video. "Self-isolation has been affecting me pretty hard, but at least stuff like this is keeping me active. Dark Souls with a Ring Fit controller is awesome."

To be fair, Super Louis 64 is no stranger to modding controllers - that's pretty much what his entire YouTube channel is dedicated to. In another recent video, he takes down the Nameless King boss in Dark Souls 3 with DK Bongos; and another sees him playing Sekiro using a Dance Dance Revolution Dance Pad. Absolute madness!

Still, it's a great way to keep fit while playing games during this difficult time. And while you may be thinking that it's good that he sticks with single-player games to avoid any potential embarrassment, here he is playing Modern Warfare with a pair of Donkey Kong Bongos.
