Driver 2: Back On The Streets might not be remembered as the greatest PlayStation game of all time, but it certainly had its fans. The ability to explore what felt like a truly massive 3D open world either by car or on foot was genuinely mind-blowing at the time, and those of us who played it a young age will probably never forget what it felt like to zip around such stunning (at the time) environments
That's why I'm really excited to have discovered that a team of passionate fans and indie developers have actually created a PC port of Driver 2, complete with 60fps support. Obviously the game's visuals have aged pretty badly, but if you wanted a way to experience the classic again with a few shiny new bells and whistles? This is easily the best possible version.
As reported by dsogaming, this port is 100% unofficial, but holy cow does it look good. Take a look at the official trailer below.

What's really cool about this particular port is that the developers have reverse-engineered the entire time. That means that this isn't just an emulated version of Driver 2, but a native PC version. This opens up some seriously exciting opportunities for modders, so expect to see some very impressive graphical improvements, tweaks, and maybe even entirely new maps and levels if people are feeling ambitious enough.
If you want to check this one out for yourself, you can follow the installation instructions via the YouTube video. Again, this is not official, so be aware that the whole thing could easily get taken down at any point. The good news is that Driver 2 isn't the one with the infamously awful tutorial level, so at least you won't have to deal with that nonsense ever again.
Honestly, the only thing better than an unofficial remake/remaster of Driver 2 on PC at this point would be an entirely new game in the series... but I wouldn't count on that happening any time soon. For now let's just be content with this port and once again be thankful for the passion and dedication of passionate fans. I never would have expected to see Driver 2 back in action, but I'm so glad it's here.
