A Second Justice League Movie Is Happening, But There's A Catch

Justice for all

Ever since the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League earlier this year, fans have been clamouring for news of a sequel.

Director Zack Snyder himself has made it clear multiple times that he still has a massively ambitious vision for the DC Extended Universe - a vision that started with Man Of Steel and continued into Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Justice League was absolutely not supposed to be the end. And if you've made it through his four-hour version of the superhero team-up movie, you'll know that.

Unfortunately whether or not a Zack Snyder-directed sequel ever happens remains up in the air. Warner Bros. seems pretty adamant that Snyder is done playing with DC characters. Meanwhile, the director argues that the "Snyder Cut" once looked impossible, and that ended up happening. You have to admire his belief.

Now, producer Charles Roven has shared his opinion on the likelihood of a Justice League sequel. Roven has served as producer on a number of major DC films for years now, from the Christopher Nolan Batman movies all the way through to James Gunn's The Suicide Squad.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about the future of The Suicide Squad and Justice League franchises, he confirmed both would probably get sequels - although the latter seemed more like an afterthought.

"But [I] still have an affiliation with some more Suicide Squads, which I'm thrilled about," Roven said in response to future projects. "I hope James [Gunn] will, when he's got some time, come back and see if he's going to do another one of these, because he did such an amazing job. I would definitely be a part of that. Probably another Justice League, although I think that's a number of years away."

A fairly noncommittal response to Justice League there, and maybe not the outright confirmation many "Snyderverse" lobbyists were hoping for. It's also worth noting that Roven doesn't specify whether or not this new Justice League would be a direct sequel or a reboot. Given that he thinks such a film would be a "number of years away", however, I'd suspect the latter.
