Marvel's 'Eternals' Trailer Drops, Kicking Off A New Chapter For The MCU

And now for something completely different.

Marvel Studios has just dropped the very first trailer for Eternals, and it looks like a serious change in direction for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Eternals follows the adventures of The Eternals, a race of immortal beings with superhuman powers who have lived on Earth in secret for thousands of years. The trailer doesn't give too much away... but it's clear that after all this time, something is bringing these beings back together to break the one promise they made when they arrived on Earth: no interfering.

Take a look at the trailer below, it's a real beauty!

This is the first full-length teaser Marvel has released for the superhero film, although we were previously treated to a glimpse of Eternals via a montage confirming the studio's plans for Phase 4.

Eternals releases November 5, and boasts an all-star cast of serious heavy hitters, including Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Lauren Riddloff, and Kit Harington. It's being directed by Chloé Zhao, who helmed the Oscar-winning Nomadland. The trailer might not have given a damn thing away, but the sheer weight of talent behind Eternals is enough to get me genuinely excited.

Eternals is just the first step for Marvel on a journey that promises to see the studio embracing some of the weirdest, darkest aspects of the comic books it adapts. Rumours abound that Spider-Man: No Way Home will throw Tom Holland into the multiverse, for example, while Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness promises to be a horror that deals with the chilling conclusion of WandaVision. By the end of Phase 4, ancient aliens living in secret on Earth for thousands of years might just end up being the most mundane thing to have happened in the MCU.
