Ragnarok is coming.

It seems we're going to be seeing Kratos again very soon, as rumours are swirling of God of War sequel gameplay footage being revealed at an upcoming PlayStation event. Though God of War: Ragnarok's release is delayed until next year - and yes, we're sticking with that title, for now - that doesn't mean the team at Santa Monica Studio doesn't have an update for us in the near future.

Spotted by Comicbook, game journalist Nick 'Shpeshal Nick' Baker has informed followers on Twitter that God of War 2 gameplay is going to be revealed at the next PlayStation event. The tweet simply says: "I'm being told we'll see our first gameplay of the new God of War at Sony's show too. Will be exciting to see."

The only hint we have for what's in store for God of War 2/Ragnarok is this teaser revealing Ragnarok's central part in the game...

Though Baker is primarily an Xbox specialist, as he's the co-founder of XboxEra, it feels like this is a likely outcome for the next PlayStation State of Play. As PlayStation wasn't at E3, leaving Xbox and Nintendo to 'win' the conference, it feels like the gaming giant should be announcing its own showcase any second now.

Sony hasn't attended E3 for a few years now, instead presenting whatever they want to show gamers in their own time, via digital State of Play events. Just before E3 2021, Guerrilla Games presented a gameplay reveal for Horizon Forbidden West, showing Aloy's new adventures in a dystopian San Francisco, and revealing all-new abilities and threats.

Horizon Forbidden West and God of War 2 are just two of the exciting games in the works for PlayStation consoles at the moment. We recently heard that Guerrilla Games is already working on another secret project behind the scenes and that Insomniac is developing Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

As for the next God of War game, we're currently in the dark about most of its details. We don't even know if God of War: Ragnarok is its official name. Whatever its title, we can't wait to see what Kratos and Atreus are up to next.
