As you've probably heard by now, Sony will broadcast a brand-new State Of Play Presentation later this week. The September 9 showcase will focus on a number of previously announced PlayStation games due to release later this year, as well as a handful of unannounced surprises planned for 2022.

While we have no idea what to expect from the 40-minute show in terms of new announcements, it sounds as if PlayStation fans will not leave feeling let down. At least, that's according to God Of War and Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe, who claimed it'll be an event to remember.

Take a look at some of our favourite PlayStation 4 games below!

Over on Twitter, Jaffe assured fans that "the traditional, great first-party PlayStation" we all know and love will be present during the show, implying that we can expect to see one or two brand-new first-party announcements in the mix.

In a follow-up tweet, the developer said that one potential announcement in particular is "bad ass" and that fans will "lose their f*cking minds" when they see it.

"I'm not going to tell you what's going to be there, and I don't know everything, but I know a handful of things and you won't be disappointed if you are looking for the traditional, great first-party PlayStation," Jaffe said. "That's going to be there with flying colours and I'm so excited to see the people's response to it. I haven't even seen what I'm talking about, but I'm very proud and excited for all of Sony."

It's unclear what this mystery bad-ass announcement could be, but it is worth noting that only last month reports surfaced that PlayStation is working on a reboot of the Twisted Metal franchise. Reliable Call Of Duty and Battlefield insider Tom Henderson claimed in August that the popular car brawler is being revived for PlayStation 5. That'd certainly turn more than a few heads if it were announced this week. But we'll have to wait and see, won't we?
