Soulja Boy Claims He's New Owner Of Atari In Bizarre Video, Atari Immediately Responds

DeAndre Cortez Way, also known as rapper Soulja Boy, has made some strange career moves.

In the past few years, he's gotten into the games industry, announcing a handful of SouljaGame-branded consoles... most of which ended up being little more than stolen designs that came packed with a load of ROMs and were immediately shut down by Sony and Nintendo lawyers.

In an utterly bizarre new video shared by the rapper on Instagram (which you can see below via YouTube), he claims that he's "now the new owner" of historic video game company Atari.

Soulja Boy alleges Atari was so impressed with the success of his line of SouljaGame consoles and handhelds that it reached out to him. He went on to say that he'll be selling SouljaGame for $140 million, and has signed two deals with Atari, making him "the first rapper to own a video game company".

"I'm about to revamp the company," Soulja boy claims in the live video while wearing a sweatshirt adorned with the Atari logo. "We're gonna take Atari to the next level. Everybody go follow Atari - I am now the owner of Atari. I own the video game company Atari. They were real proud of me and what I did with the Soulja Boy game console. We're about to sell the company for $140 million. Thank you to my fans, I couldn't have done without you."

If you're questioning the validity of these claims, you'd be right to do so. Hours after Soula Boy declared himself the new owner of Atari, the company took to Twitter to write: "We know that CEO of Atari is a dream job, but that honour belongs to Wade Rosen." While the rapper isn't specifically mentioned, it's clear what this tweet is in reference to.

Maybe Nintendo will come calling next week. We'll have to wait and see.
