GTA 6 new leak brings a flood of fresh details

GTA 6 new leak brings a flood of fresh details

Back to the leaky source

As they haven't seen a trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, fans are going back to the details from last year's data leak to uncover more about what we can expect from the crime sequel.

The leak from September 2022 saw both videos and documents pour out onto the internet for fans to pick apart. While we don't condone the hacking that revealed all these details, it's understandable that fans want more information on one of the most anticipated games of all time.

Here is everything we know about GTA VI so far.

Over on Reddit u/Tobbelobben30 has been picking apart the data from the leak and found mentions of 'locomotive technology' in the debug menu. This is a technology patented by Rockstar Games that refers to the way an NPC will move.

There are over 200 presets for the AI characters including mentions of 'ProceduralMotion' and 'Emotional LocoRequests'. These two presets say a lot about how we could see NPCs move and react in the surrounding world. Rockstar Games always try to go to great lengths to make the world of GTA feel as authentic as possible. So what could these presets mean?

The first hints at NPC movement being generated on the fly so that AI animates their movement in reaction to what's occurring around them. This is then paired with the second preset which suggests that NPCs will react with more emotion. So, for example, we could see an NPC who is threatened by the player character act in different ways depending on the threat, making each NPC feel more unique.

Among the presets there are mentions of 'Taming' and 'HorseAvoidance' both of which suggest interactions with animals may be fleshed out further than seen in GTA V and will perhaps bring over mechanics seen in Red Dead Redemption 2.
