GTA: San Andreas RTX remake is absolutely stunning

It’s the dawn of yet another week, and we’re still no closer to finding out when Grand Theft Auto VI is set to be released. In theory, with each passing day, we must edge closer to reveal day, but it sure doesn’t feel like it.

In the meantime though, plenty has been going on in the world of Grand Theft Auto to keep fans occupied. It’s been teased that an upcoming GTA Online update could bring back a classic dead character, but GTA V fans are furious that Rockstar have seemingly put a load of previously-accessible content behind a paywall. A GTA VI teaser was potentially spotted in GTA V too which promised to ‘reveal all’ soon - and 10 years on, many are in agreement that the game’s graphic torture mission was perhaps a step too far. Today though, I bring you a dazzling San Andreas RTX remake.

As reported by DSOGaming, NVIDIA’s RTX Remix has been used to completely overhaul San Andreas’ visuals - and the results are positively stunning. You can download the mod for free over at Mix Mods, and it essentially adds path traced graphics (a successor to ray tracing) to any classic game, optimising other graphics files in the process. Some textures/models will also be replaced with more refined modern counterparts.

There are a couple of bugs relating to the mod. Applying the mod to water and cars without colour is still proving to be a little patchy, but you can manually position lights and add shader maps for textures in these instances. The mod will run San Andreas at 40 to 50fps with path tracing on high on an RTX 3060. At 720p, you’ll be able to get 60fps.
