Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 is leaving audiences traumatised

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has finally arrived and those who have seen the film are saying that it could traumatise an entire generation of children. Oh my. That’s not what I expected.

Critics are hailing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as ‘the best Marvel film in years’ which is great to hear after a few recent disappointments. Personally, I thought Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was excellent, but Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania left a little to be desired. With Phase Five now underway, it’s exciting to think that we’re finally building towards something. Phase Four often felt a little directionless. Then again, I suppose when you think back to Phase One, the MCU was finding its footing before Thanos was drafted into the fold. Seeing as Vol. 3 is a farewell for the Guardians, audiences expected it to be emotional, but some are calling it traumatising.

As reported by our friends at UNILAD, Vol. 3 has an age rating of 12A in the UK and PG-13 in the US, but viewers are saying that the film really pushes the boundaries of what’s allowed under this age rating. Don’t worry, I’ll be keeping things spoiler free. What I will tease though, is that Vol. 3 really places the Guardians in quite intense circumstances of peril, pushing violence far further than you’d perhaps expect.

Twitter user Koltreg wrote, “Damn, new Guardians of the Galaxy is intense. Like somehow comparable with The Suicide Squad in terms of death. It is the most Gunn superhero movie in a lot of ways and uhhh maybe be prepared for some trauma for younger kids. Very good but also brutal.” To add some context to that, The Suicide Squad was rated a 15 in the UK - and yet somehow, Vol. 3 is on par with this with a 12A rating.

TheSpoilist added, “Well, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is going to traumatise a generation of children. Where’s the line on a 12A these days? A fitting end to the series and I suspect Marvel won’t be this nasty ever again,” while anthonysargon said, “If Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is as sad as people are saying it is, it might be best for me to watch it alone and cry at my heart’s content.” Sounds like a solid plan.
