Indiana Jones and The Dial Of Destiny is set to release in June, marking the return of the beloved fedora-wearing, whip-wielding, treasure-hunting archaeologist. Unfortunately, his return will be short-lived, as Harrison Ford has confirmed this will be his last appearance as Dr Jones on the big-screen.
The archaeologist will be joined by a new character Helena, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and will see the pair face off against the Nazis one more time, led by a new villain played by Mads Mikkelson.
Speaking in an interview with Total FIlm magazine, Harrison Ford discussed his time with the character since his debut in Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, all the way back in 1981.

Ford said: "I’ve been able to deliver amazing films developed by Steven [Spielberg] and George [Lucas] over a 40-year period, and to end it not with a whimper, but a bang, has been my greatest ambition for this excursion."
The actor also expressed his gratitude for being able to see Indiana Jones’ final send-off come to fruition, saying: "I had been ambitious to do this film for 10 years, and there finally came a time when we all committed to that. It was a joyous moment for me. I think it’s a rare situation that I find myself in,"
Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve been teased that Indiana Jones’ story is coming to an end, as it seemed like he’d retired at the end of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008). In the ending scene, after Indy and his love interest Marianne tied the knot in their happy ending, Jones tosses his infamous hat over to Shia LeBeouf’s character Mutt Williams, seemingly indicating that he was passing the torch to him.

Nothing ever came of this, and it doesn’t seem like LeBeouf will be reprising his role in The Dial of Destiny, so it looks like that ending is being thrown out entirely. This time however, it does seem like it’s truly the end for the franchise, which isn’t surprising since Harrison Ford himself is 80 years old.
Indiana Jones’ final adventure will begin on the 30th of June, but that doesn’t mean Ford is done with big-screen appearances, as he’s set to debut in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, The Thunderbolts…
