HBO's The Last of Us is getting a glowing review from a critic fortunate enough to have been granted the opportunity to catch the show before it airs on television in 2023.
No, it's not our Kate Harrold, though I imagine she will have cleared her entire calendar to ensure she makes the most of every crumb of The Last of Us content. The hype for this show is simply stratospheric and the absolutely amazing cast will introduce the game to an entirely new audience of fans of the genre. Merle Dandridge reprises her role as Marlene, the leader of the Fireflies, and Anna Torv plays Tess with Lamar Johnson and Keivonn Woodard appearing as Henry and Sam. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are Joel and Ellie and actress Ashley Johnson plays Ellie's mother in a wonderful full-circle moment for one of the most iconic characters in gaming.

One of Vulture's critics accidentally looks to have lifted the lid on their impressions of The Last of Us ahead of an embargo and it only sounds like good news. “It took five minutes for The Last of Us to win me over entirely,” they said, adding that the show has “extremely strong Blade 2 energy.” That film was praised for its spectacle... though it did come at the expense of the development of the characters. "I am cackling with delight and overcome with emotional turbulence!!" continued the critic in a Tweet that is still live at the time of writing.

The Last of Us comes to HBO Max on January 15, 2023, and will arrive on Sky one day later in the United Kingdom.
