Hogwarts Legacy Quidditch coming as DLC, apparently

Hogwarts Legacy Quidditch coming as DLC, apparently

Reportedly, Quidditch was in development for Hogwarts Legacy a year before being scrapped, implying it could potentially be brought back.

Despite the devs repeatedly claiming that Quidditch won’t be included in Hogwarts Legacy, it looks like there may be hope for it being added post-launch.

Quidditch is probably one of the most notable parts of the Harry Potter franchise - the fast-paced broom-based sport played a key role throughout the movies and books. So, it was understandable that many fans were disappointed when WB Games stated that it wouldn’t be included in the huge wizarding world RPG.

It’s been revealed that Simon Pegg will be voicing headmaster Phineas Nigellus Black in Hogwarts Legacy - take a look at the introduction to his character below.

However, as GGRecon reports, according to an insider, the sport could be coming to the game as DLC. They claim that way back in 2017, the game was intended to include Quidditch in its entirety, with all four positions playable (Seeker, Keeper, Beater and Chaser). However, after one year, the mode was reportedly abandoned.

Obviously, none of this information has been officially confirmed, but assuming that it’s real, it seems plausible that the devs could later finish the mode and add it to the game as DLC - there’s no doubt that many fans would jump on the opportunity to play the sport, even if it was just against CPUs rather than other players. Beats just flying around, right? At the time of writing, the insider doesn’t seem to have responded to questions asking if this is the plan.

Not all gamers are fully on board with Hogwarts Legacy, with or without Quidditch. Many are planning to boycott the game due to its connection with Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, who has been criticised for making harmful comments regarding the transgender community.

Hogwarts Legacy is going to have a staggered release across different platforms - it’ll be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on 10 February, PS4 and Xbox One on 4 April, and Nintendo Switch on 25 July.
