Jack Black’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie song is the first of his career to crack the Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

It’s difficult not to like Jack Black, with his nerdy and hyperactive ways. Though I’m sure there are a few sadistic folks that don't appreciate the flamboyance of the Hollywood star and talented musician. If so, shame on you!

Whether it’s movies such as Nacho Libre, School of Rock, Jumanji or Po from the Kung Fu Panda series, Mr Black has won the hearts of millions across the world.. Heck, he’s even featured in an episode of The Mandalorian. Yet, it’s arguably his most recent outing as Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie that has won him a new legion of fans.

Jack Black steals the show as the villainous Bowser, taking full advantage of his over-the-top persona and witty charisma. What’s more, it’s not just his acting performance that has stolen the show, but also his musical talents too.

During the movie, Bowser breaks out into song in an attempt to woo Princess Peach. The song in question is ‘Peaches’ and is co-written by Black, Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic, Eric Osmond and John Spiker.

The music video to ‘Peaches’ was uploaded to the Illumination YouTube channel over a week ago and at the time of writing, has garnered over 12 million views with a 400k to 5k Like to Dislike ratio. Furthermore, the song is also eligible to be nominated for the Best Original Song at the Oscars.

However, the accolades for ‘Peaches’ doesn't stop there, because as reported by our friends at UNILAD, the song has now entered the Billboard's Hot 100 charts, currently sitting at number 83.

Unbelievably, this is the first time that Jack Black has been in the Billboard Top 100, which is baffling considering the success of Black’s rock band with longtime friend Kyle Gass having graced us with their Tenacious D musical talents since 1994. Well, as they say, better late than never.

In our review of The Super Mario. Bros Movie, we said: “There was never any doubt that Jack Black is the perfect person to play Bowser, and seeing (or rather, hearing) him in action proves this once and for all. While he totally nails the serious villainous scenes, he also uncovers a goofier side to Mario’s arch nemesis that’s hilarious to watch, and doesn’t feel at all out of place.”

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is out in cinemas now.
