Marvel's Spider-Man 2 gameplay trailer has blown us away

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has finally received a gameplay trailer and release date at the PlayStation Showcase.

Gather round, my Spidey loving friends. The day we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived. The PlayStation Showcase is officially underway, bringing with it the first gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 - and a release date too.

I’m so glad we finally have some official news to talk about because goodness me, people have been speculating about this game for what feels like an eternity. Up to now, all we’ve had to go on is Peter Parker actor Yuri Lowenthal’s assurances that the game is ‘astonishing’ and Insomniac’s confirmation that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is strictly a single-player adventure, as we expected. Before we dive into what’s new though, you may want to check out the free prequel comic which charts what Peter and Miles have been up to between Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2. I won’t delay things any longer though. Let’s dive into that gameplay. I will say that Yuri was right, astonishing is the perfect word.

Take a look at the brand new gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 below.

It sure is good to see Miles and Peter swinging through the streets of New York again. How incredible does that gameplay look? You know who I didn’t expect to see though KRAVEN THE HUNTER?! I was already excited for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 but oh goodness me, my hype just went through the roof.

How cool does Peter look with his Symbiote skin? Although, it does seem to have changed his personality somewhat. Clearly, Kraven is attempting to wreak havoc on the streets of New York and by the looks of things, we may be getting a map that extends to more boroughs than we’ve experienced before. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 looks set to have a new UI which I’m sure will take some getting used to, but it looks straight forward enough.

Unfortunately, we still don't know when the game is due to release other than the vague window of 'fall 2023' so I'd guess either September or October.

If you’re yet to catch up with the Marvel’s Spider-Man series, the PlayStation 5 version of the first game has just been released as a standalone title (it was previously only included in the Miles Morales: Ultimate Edition). You can buy it outright, or pay a £10/$10 upgrade fee if you have the PS4 version. Miles Morales, on the other hand, is included in PS Plus’ extra tier.
