Marvel's Spider-Man 2 can be downloaded early

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will soon be available to pre-download, ahead of release day.

We’re on the final countdown. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to swing onto our consoles on 20 October, but I’m guessing you might be interested in finding out how you can download the game early.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is certainly shaping up to be a Game of the Year contender. While some players are already arguing that the game is “too short”, we were impressed by what we saw in our hands-on preview. GAMINGbible’s Ewan wrote, “All the pieces are in place for one of the most exciting and high-stakes Spider-Man stories of all time. In short, this is shaping up to be the perfect sequel: bigger, faster, and altogether more spidery than its predecessors.” I’m itching to dive in and I’m guessing you are too. The good news is that you can pre-download Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on your PS5 so you can jump straight in on release day.

Take a look at our video preview of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 below.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is available to pre-load from 13 October. This means you’ll be able to download the game in just a few days time, although you won’t actually be able to start it until release day. As reported by The Loadout, the game has a reported file size of around 100GB which is pretty hefty, so I’m imagining it’ll take several hours to download. All the more reason to get ahead early.

As The Loadout points out, your PS5 is equipped with around 825GB of storage. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s 100GB is as much as both the original Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales put together. It certainly sounds like we’re in for a treat. Presumably, there will also be a day one patch, as is the case with most games, thus further increasing the file size - although this hasn’t been confirmed by Insomniac just yet.

What we do know is that the game will support 40fps, alongside standard 30fps and 60fps options, and we’ve already received a look at the full map - which is absolutely huge. I cannot wait to get started.
