Modern Warfare 2 players accuse Activision of ignoring multiplayer to focus on Warzone 2

Modern Warfare 2 players accuse Activision of ignoring multiplayer to focus on Warzone 2

Many Call of Duty fans are frustrated that the game they paid for apparently isn't being as well supported as the free-to-play title.

Not even three months since its launch, some Modern Warfare II players believe that the devs’ priorities may have shifted to Warzone 2.0, and they’re not happy.

When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II graced our screens in October last year, it was an all-round hit. Fans loved the campaign, were seriously impressed by the visuals, and thought that the maps were creative and fun. However, as more time has passed, some believe that not enough is being done to support the game’s multiplayer when compared to the free-to-play battle royale title, Warzone 2.0.

Before we get into it, take a look at Modern Warfare II’s take on the All Ghillied Up mission below.

As Dexerto reports, players on Reddit have been expressing their frustration at a recent post from Infinity Ward, which seems to suggest that there’s going to be more focus on Warzone 2.0 than MWII in the upcoming second season. “It’s so annoying that the free-to-play Warzone is their main priority and not the $70 game that I paid for,” booostd wrote.

Others are in agreement: “They don't care about [multiplayer]. Ground War is in [sic] an awful state for months,” Lumenprotoplasma replied. “It’s super frustrating. I was looking forward to a fun MP-focused game. I could [sic] give two s**ts of [sic] Warzone. Where tf is Gunfight?!?” wrote Gadsden_Rattler. “This is probably the last time I'm buying the multiplayer. Is pretty insulting how they've been treating their paying customers,” added edsan22.

Last week, it was confirmed that season two for both Warzone 2.0 and MWII is being delayed until 15 February, seemingly due to the devs acting on fan feedback and making improvements to the games. Specifically, it was mentioned that Resurgence was coming back to Warzone 2.0, and that 1v1s are returning to the Gulag, so it’s understandable that fans would feel that most of the focus is going to the free-to-play title.

However, the devs also stated that new maps, weapons and modes will be coming to MWII this season, including Ranked mode, so there’s still new stuff coming to the premium title. Whether fans will be satisfied by this is another matter, though.
