'Modern Warfare 2' Reportedly Bringing Back Fan-Favourite Weapon

'Modern Warfare 2' Reportedly Bringing Back Fan-Favourite Weapon

One Call of Duty news source has claimed that a certain sniper rifle will be making a comeback in Modern Warfare II.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II really isn’t that far away now - Activision’s latest in everyone’s favourite FPS franchise is set to be upon us in just three months’ time. And, although it’s not currently predicted to outsell the titan that is FromSoftware’s Elden Ring (at least, in the US), it’s still certainly going to be a very popular title amongst gamers worldwide, as any new CoD game always is.

There’s no wonder that people are excited - one insider has claimed that MWII will include a map editor for the first time in the series’ history, and I’m sure we can all agree that it’d be a super welcome addition. Just think of the possibilities! And the chaos. So much chaos.

Take a look at some gameplay footage for Modern Warfare II below.

Now, as reported by ComicBook, players may be able to reunite with an old, fan-favourite friend when the game releases this autumn, and by friend I mean gun. Prominent Call of Duty news source (and former insider) @ModernWarzone on Twitter, has hinted that we may be seeing the return of Intervention - a bolt-action sniper rifle which has been a popular weapon ever since it was first introduced to the series. Exciting!

This isn’t the first leak that’s suggested the comeback of some fan-favourite additions. Earlier this month, a different leaker revealed what they claimed to be 18 different game modes, 23 perks, and five killstreak rewards from MWII, with plenty of nostalgic choices included throughout. As far as the modes go, Capture the Flag, Demolition, Ground War, and Search and Destroy were among some of the classics listed, and Ground War Bomb, Knockout, and Bounty were some of the fresh names.

Unfortunately, as of now, this is all unofficial, so take it all with a pinch of salt until Activision actually confirms things. There’s perhaps no game series which seems to leak more frequently than Call of Duty though, so no doubt we’ll be seeing yet even more unofficial news coming our way soon.
