At this point it's become something of a meme that Netflix cancels shows after just one season.
Over the last several years, Netflix has cancelled the following shows after their first season: I Am Not Okay With This, The Society, Everything Sucks!, First Kill, Resident Evil, Daybreak, Cursed, Teenage Bounty Hunters, The Irregulars. That, my friends, is just a very small sample.
While not every show should make it past one season, it's worth noting that sometimes shows take a little while to find their feet. Imagine if Breaking Bad had been canned after its first season! I'm certainly not comparing any of the above to Breaking Bad, mind you, but you see my point.
Anyway, yet another series has now joined the growing list of Netflix shows that will never see a season two. The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, based on the YA novel Half Bad by Sally Green, has been binned off after a mere eight episodes. The sad news was confirmed by the show's production company Imaginarium, and the showrunner Joe Barton.

“Sadly, yes, Netflix [has] cancelled [the show],” Barton wrote on Twitter. “Very proud of it and really liked the people I got to make it with. Sorry not to be able to finish the story.” A Netflix rep later confirmed the news to TV Line.
While The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself might not have gotten the world talking in the same way as Stranger Things or Wednesday, it was a highly-rated series that went down well with fans and critics alike. Over on Rotten Tomatoes the show boasts a critic score of 93% and an audience score of 92%. Since when do critics and fans agree on anything?
