Netflix viewers are once again in a state of fury and disbelief at the news that yet another highly rated show has been sent to the chop.
Over the last several years, Netflix has cancelled a ton of shows before they could really find their feet. I Am Not Okay With This, The Society, Everything Sucks!, First Kill, Resident Evil, Daybreak, Cursed, Teenage Bounty Hunters, and The Irregulars are just a small sample of shows that never made it past the first season.
Sometimes, however, the streaming service lets fans get just aquatinted enough with a series before they take it out back and put a bullet in its head. That's why subscribers are currently livid over the fact that a show with a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes was suddenly cancelled one month after the release of its second season. At least Netflix is keeping us on our toes, I guess.
Warrior Nun is (or rather was) a fantasy series, based on a comic by Ben Dunn. It followed the adventures of Ava Silva (Alba Baptista), a young girl who seemingly comes back from the dead to discover she has supernatural powers. With the help of an order of warrior nuns, she learns to use her powers to defend the world from demons and the forces of darkness.

While the show spent several weeks in Netflix's worldwide top 10 (according to Deadline) and has won universal acclaim from fans and critics, the streaming service apparently decided it just wasn't enough. Seriously though, how many shows can claim to have a critic score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes plus and audience score of 99%? People so rarely agree on anything.
Alas, the cancellation was confirmed by the show's creator Simon Barry, who revealed on social media that there were no plans for a third season.
“My sincere appreciation to all the fans who worked so hard to bring awareness to this series, and for the love you showed me, the cast and the whole production team,” he said. “It was a privilege to be a part of this.”
