New PlayStation 5 Model Has Been Seen Out In The Wild

There’s been a whole lot of rumours circulating around in recent months about the PS5 Pro, AKA the souped-up PS5 model that we’ve all been expecting will happen at some point, even though it hasn't actually been confirmed. Because, let’s face it, it makes sense, right? The Xbox One S and PS4 Pros of this world have taught us that given enough years, you can basically guarantee that all consoles will receive a bit of an upgrade before the next generation comes along.

Well, as reported by Press Start, a brand new PS5 model has actually hit the shelves in Australia, although you shouldn’t get too excited - it’s not the overhaul that many gamers have been waiting for. There are new iterations of both the Disc and Digital editions of the console (called the CFI-1202A and CFI-1202B models respectively), which have been sold in Australian stores over the last week. 

So, what’s the difference? As of now, it seems that the only noticeable change is that the consoles both weigh less, for some reason. The Disc console is reportedly 300 grams lighter than the most recent model (600 grams lighter than the launch model), and weighs a total of 3.9kg, whereas the Digital console weighs 200 grams less than the last model (and 500 grams less than its launch edition) at 3.4kg.

Chances are then, it seems that the internals of the consoles have seen some sort of changes, although right now, it’s not known what they are, or if they’ll affect the actual performance of the systems. Otherwise, it seems that they’ll be less of a strain on shelves, at the very least.
