If not for that little delay, it’d have been one month today till the premiere of the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Sigh. We can’t really complain though, because it’s literally only two extra days, and for our troubles, we get two episodes on the first day, instead of just one. Bonus!
Anyway, there’s a lot to look forward to, and fans are understandably getting very excited. That said, there’s still a lot we don’t actually know about it - it’s reportedly set to take place between the events of Episode III and IV, but what exactly is in store for Obi-Wan himself is another matter. Well, just in case you needed any more teasing, as reported by GamesRadar+, the series’ producer, Michelle Rejwan, has been speaking to SFX Magazine about how the show kicks off for the titular Jedi, and it’s sounding really interesting.

“[We find him in] a pretty traumatic moment, where he’s lost so much, where he’s been hiding, where his apprentice and brother, Anakin, has gone to the Dark Side, and he’s been living with that for a decade,” Rejwan said. “We’re really finding him in a place where he’s quite lost, and Ewan [McGregor] was a major part of that conversation.”

She continued, adding that Darth Vader (who Hayden Christensen is once again returning to play) was “always part of this story”.
“Because he and Anakin Skywalker are such important characters to Obi-Wan, in the shadow of the events of Revenge of the Sith,” she added. “He’s living with how things were left with Anakin on Mustafar, leaving him to die in an incredibly tragic way, because he had no choice. He’s been living with quite a bit of guilt and reflection over this period.”
Again, there’s not too long to wait now, as the first two episodes will be available on Disney+ on 27 May - the remaining four episodes will release every Wednesday after that.
