Senior citizen gamers celebrate their retirements because they can play Starfield all day

Senior citizens are celebrating, as they'll get to play the upcoming Xbox exclusive, Starfield, all throughout their retirements

Gamers of all ages are waiting for Bethesda’s ambitious, new IP, Starfield, with older players looking forward to spending their retirement with the game.

Starfield is the highly-anticipated space-exploration game that’s set to drop later this year exclusively for Xbox Series X/S and PC, a decision which has caused a lot of controversy over the last few weeks. Not only has it been used as evidence during the Microsoft V FTC trial, but PlayStation fans have been signing a petition to have the game become a PS5 exclusive instead, which failed miserably.

Nevertheless, it hasn’t stopped fans from patiently awaiting its release, and has even encouraged some people to pick up a brand-new Xbox for the very first time.

Even older players are getting in on the fun, who have expressed excitement over getting to play the game during their retirement, which they shared in a Reddit thread titled: “How many senior citizen Starfield players?”

The post read: “I am 71 and was wondering how many other old farts are here waiting for Starfield. I was 5 when Sputnik launched ... which I don't remember. Probably more into Davey Crockett then.

But I do remember in 3rd grade my teacher did bring in a radio and the class listened to Alan Shepard's first US manned flight, all 15 minutes.”

It was met with several senior players who confirmed they’ll be playing the new game upon release, with many of them having their own real-life memories of the “space-race” that ranged from the late 50s to mid-70s.

“I'm recently retired. That's all I'll say on the subject…”

“73 and I do remember Sputnik and Laika very well still.”

“60 here, and will be playing day 1.”

Starfield promises vast exploration of the galaxy, in your own spaceship that you can customise in nearly any way you’d like. Players will get to explore over 1,000 planets, immerse themselves in a classic Bethesda faction system, and meet a new cast of characters, including the return of the “adoring fan” from The Elder Scrolls.
