Palworld will be supported with post-launch updates, according to the game’s developer who says the game is only around 60% finished. It’s been a busy few days for Palworld, better known as “Pokémon but with guns,” as it’s climbed its way up the charts since it was released on PC and Xbox last Friday. The game has quickly surpassed over 7 million sales on Steam, and its inclusion on Xbox Game Pass means it’s easily accessible to millions more. Unfortunately PlayStation-only players don’t have a port at the time of writing, but it’s believed one might eventually enter development.

As for what the future has in store for the game, a lot of it is up in the air. Despite its popularity, Palworld has also been accused of plagiarising characters and mechanics from the Pokémon series, leading many to believe Nintendo will attack with a lawsuit later down the line.
That hasn’t swayed the developers who are already thinking about what else could be added to Palworld via post-launch support, including a PvP mode. Speaking in an interview the CEO of PocketPair, Takuro Mizobe, said all of the “basic functions” of Palworld are already in place, meaning it’s time to consider what can be refined and added.
When addressing the possibility of a PvP mode, Mizobe wasn’t entirely optimistic it could work. Describing it as a “hurdle,” the CEO said, "PvP is really difficult […] We need to make sure that there is a reason for Palworld players to play PvP […] In this sense, I think it's a very harsh territory."
Nevertheless, the future is seemingly bright for Palworld, so fans can look forward to whatever joins the survival game in upcoming updates provided Nintendo doesn’t strike the whole thing down first.
