The Assassin’s Creed RPG games are considered by many to be the black sheep of the series. While Assassin’s Creed Origins introduced RPG elements while still keeping the focus on stealth and assassinations, future games would go all-in, much to the dismay of fans.

While Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla aren't considered to be bad games, they're definitely not considered good Assassin’s Creed games, with the many criticisms being their ridiculously big open worlds.

Luckily, the series has returned to its roots with Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which is a glorious return to form for the series that boasts a mercifully smaller map size, and you can read all about it in our review.

Now though, some fans are looking back at Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and believe it wasn’t as bad as people made it out to be.

This shift in opinion came about when Reddit user Unfair_Pudding6180 made a post asking: “Is AC: Valhalla really that bad? I’ve seen so many people say it’s too long and boring, the story is poor etc. I really enjoyed Odyssey but some of these comments are putting me off from playing Valhalla.”

Fans of the game rallied together, saying that while it might not be as good as other titles, it’s definitely not a game that should be slept on.

“I really like Valhalla. Definitely my favorite of the RPG trilogy. But then I like exploration and collecting things in an area and time that I don't know anything about.”

“I personally really enjoyed it but a lot of people (as you said) complain about it a lot.”

“No. These people don't like long games. Valhalla was marvellous.”

As an Assassin’s Creed game, it failed, but if you’re looking for a cool, Viking-inspired, open-world adventure game, Valhalla might be right up your street.
