Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the worst AC game, fans agree

Assassin’s Creed fans have determined Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the worst game in the series.

As Ubisoft’s flagship franchise, there’s a lot of weight on Assassin’s Creed’s shoulders to impress its audience. That being said, recent entries in the series have always faced mixed reviews from fans and critics, most notably the RPG series.

While Assassin’s Creed Origins introduced a few RPG elements to the mix, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey fully embraced them, and by the time Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was released, it looked like there was no going back.

Fortunately, the next game in the series, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, aims to bring the franchise back to its roots and hone back in on the stealth gameplay of the old games, but fans will likely always remember the dark times of item looting and RPG gameplay.

That being said, Reddit user Shambuachaill wanted fans to reflect on those dark times, and asked the Assassin’s Creed subreddit “What is your worst Assassin’s Creed?”, and while the answers did vary to an extent, the majority of hate was directed to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the final game in the RPG trilogy.

“Started my first playthrough of Valhalla very recently and I am NOT vibing with it. I enjoyed Origins and Odyssey both quite a bit. So it’s nothing against the RPG style. But this just isn’t grabbing me.”

“Valhalla. The world feels empty. There are no side quests just world events. The story is just going to the next area to have an alliance and repeat. Until Valhalla I liked every AC in some capacity with my favourites being Revelations, Black Flag, Unity, Origins and Odyssey. But Valhalla sucked.”

“Easily it's Valhalla”

While it’s not a bad game by any means, and has it’s fans, Valhalla was definitely the least Assassin’s Creed the Assassin’s Creed series has ever been. Not to mention the world was ridiculously big, so big in fact that Ubisoft is aiming for smaller worlds in its next open-world titles, like Star Wars Outlaws.

The next game in the series, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, will be released on the 5th of October for Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms.
