Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and The Witcher 4 gets important microtransaction update

Microtransactions are the stuff of nightmares to many, so will they be included?

Could the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and the Witcher 4 be yet another series of games that succumb to microtransactions? It’s something a lot of die-hard fans are worried about.

However, as far as CD Projekt Red is concerned, it has no intention of introducing this mechanic into single-player experiences. That being said, the same post explains that CDPR will consider microtransactions for multiplayer games.

The full post shared on Twitter reads: “We do not see a place for microtransactions in the case of single-player games, but we do not rule out that we will use this solution in the future in the case of multiplayer projects.”


Before anyone doubts the source of this information, Twitter user @HazzadorGamin found the information from an interview with some of the CDPR team. Not that it’s stopped fans from doubting the information; one response says, “Didn't they say that Cyberpunk runs surprisingly well on the consoles before launch? I will believe when i see it, these PR talks means nothing to me.”

Others, however, are much more optimistic about the future of both The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, saying, “I maintain my faith in CDPR good decisions and hope for the best!”

Despite an awfully rocky start back when Cyberpunk 2077 first launched, CDPR has more than redeemed itself by turning the game into a beloved title. As such any news, both promising and potentially bad, has fans riled up.

While microtransactions seem to be out, incredible “cinematic” next-gen visuals are reportedly going to feature heavily in the next game. As for The Witcher 4, a surprise teaser has sent fans into overdrive, thus proving that CDPR has kept its promise there, or so it would seem.

Numerous games are starting to include microtransactions, much to the dismay of gamers. However, for the time being, it seems two popular franchises are safe from that fate.
