Yes you read that headline right. Megan Fox is officially joining the Mortal Kombat 1 roster as the returning character Nitara.
If I had a pound for every time Megan Fox did something video game related this year, I’d have £2 which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

Earlier this year, the actress best known for roles in Transformers (2007), Jennifer’s Body (2009), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014), took part in an ad campaign for Blizzard’s latest RPG title Diablo IV. The star filmed a number of videos where she’d roast player’s in-game deaths. Now though, she’ll star as her very own video game character, as she joins the ever-expanding roster of Mortal Kombat 1, where she’ll play the deadly vampire warrior Nitara.

NetherRealm Studios revealed the news through a brand-new trailer, showcasing Nitara's brutal and bloody combat techniques, some interactions with other Mortal Kombat characters, as well as how she could tie into the larger story of the game. Megan Fox was also present in the trailer to discuss how she got into the role, and her experience recording lines for the game.
As most Mortal Kombat fans will likely know, Nitara is a returning character who’s first, and only, playable appearance was in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. She made a few cameos and was referenced in future titles, but will finally be a playable character again, joining the likes of Sub-Zero, Liu Kang, and new additions to the roster like Homelander and Omni-Man.
Fans honestly couldn’t be happier, many of which have claimed it’s about time she returned to the series, praising her new design as well as the choice to cast Megan Fox in the role. There were a variety of rumours prior to the reveal of Fox having some involvement in Mortal Kombat 1, leading many to believe she’d be playing herself, or a character from one of her films. Nitara will be part of the base game’s roster.
Mortal Kombat 1 will release on 14 September, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.
