GTA 4 gets next-gen remaster we've been crying out for

GTA 4 gets next-gen remaster we've been crying out for

This GTA 4 next-gen remaster is stunning and we need it now

Rockstar Games is no stranger to pumping classic after classic and the year 2008 was no exception following the release of Grand Theft Auto IV.

GTA IV was a fantastic game, despite the annoying NPC, Roman Belic, cousin of protagonist Niko Belic, pestering you every five minutes to go bowling or play a game of darts. Look, I like playing the GTA IV mini-games as much as the next person, but all I wanted to do was punch the relentless Roman Belic in the forehead. Thankfully, Roman Belic eventually gets what’s coming to him!

Check out the GTA IV trailer below!

“Niko Bellic, an Eastern European war veteran, migrates to Liberty City to forget the horrific and graphic memories of his past and for a better life, things don't come out as planned as he has to wipe out mobsters and loan sharks that are preventing his cousin, Roman from making money freely,” reads the synopsis of GTA IV from developer Rockstar Games.

However, it’s now been 16 years since the release of GTA IV, so understandably at least visually, it’s quite dated. Though to be fair, it looks good played with backwards compatibility on Xbox Series X/S, it has to be said. Yet, if you like to play your video games on PC, then you’ll have the benefit of the fantastic modding community taking our beloved games to the next level whether it be visual and gameplay overhauls or brand-new content. Modders have you covered.

Speaking of which, if you were concerned that GTA IV is looking dated, you can take advantage of this new-gen remaster created by indie developer INTER, but only for those that back financially via the dedicated Patreon page. In all honesty, the mod in question makes GTA IV look stunning and it makes me wish that Rockstar Games would give this game the official remaster it deserves.

If you don’t financially back the INTER Patreon page, you can at least take a look at the impressive gameplay footage uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Flames per Second’ of the mod working its magic featured in this article. I also guarantee that there will be a plethora of other amazing GTA IV mods available on places such as NexusMods, so you might want to check that website out to see if anything tickles your fancy.

Grand Theft Auto IV is out now on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
