Starfield looks like a totally new game in jaw-dropping visual overhaul

Excuse us while we pick our jaw up off the floor

For all of Starfield’s so-called faults, it offers potential unrivalled by most open world RPGs. Regardless of how you feel about the overall success of the game since launch, there’s undeniably still content to be unlocked yet.

But it isn’t just the possibilities that the narrative leaves ripe for the plucking that has gamers coming back despite the harsh criticism Bethesda’s space RPG has faced, it’s the stunning visuals that are waiting to be unleashed.

Take a look at some of our favourite Starfield wins and fails below.

No one will say that the vanilla version of Starfield is the best looking game – Bethesda isn’t known for highly polished good looks, but even fans of Starfield have to admit it looks dated in places. Despite this, though, impressive imagery is only a few tweaks away, as we can see in this jaw-dropping overhaul by Ultimate Graphics.

The game is born anew, wowing fans who are waiting for various updates to spice up the pockets of boredom they encounter during their journey amongst the stars. “Looks soooo amazing!” complimented one player. “I'm looking forward to getting back into this game again.”

Another wrote, “What really sells this [mod] besides the graphics and colours is the movement. The character looks more solid and grounded than it really feels when you're playing.” There’s just more fluidity that the vanilla game lacks.

However, as the devs have promised, numerous large updates are abound for the RPG, with Bethesda keen to make Starfield into the legendary game it was promised to be. We can be hopeful that a visual upgrade is included, otherwise seeing mods like this just make the reality of what was delivered “much more painful”.

Even though the jury is still out on Starfield’s ultimate legacy, one thing that can’t be denied is that it was one of Steam’s best selling games of 2023. They can’t take that away from Bethesda!

If Cyberpunk 2077 can make a ridiculously unexpected comeback, so can Starfield… We hope.
