Starfield ends up costing gamer nearly $800

How much?!

Being a video game enthusiast, it’s always going to cost us a little money regardless of whether we’re big spenders or small spenders.

That being said, spending nearly $800 just to play Starfield is taking it to the extreme. Though to be fair, the individual that is the subject of this particular story was also upgrading their PC at least.

Check out the Starfield story trailer below!

Starfield is Bethesda’s next big hit and anticipation for the sci-fi RPG has been shot into the stratosphere as the hype train shoots to the moon and back. Of course, with such lofty expectations, it always runs the risk of being slapped in the face with an oversized wet Kipper.

What’s more, Bethesda games are known for being somewhat buggy, especially at launch. However, Bethesda has promised that Starfield will be its least buggy game at launch, for what that’s worth.

Unfortunately, it’s more than likely that PC gamers stand the best chance of having a buggy launch if the likes of The Last of Us Part I and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is anything to go by. Furthermore, perhaps Starfield fans have a little more concern following Bethesda’s recent collaborative deal with PC tech experts, AMD.

Which in truth, makes the gamer that spent nearly $800 on their PC to play Starfield a little more worrying. “So, today I was mindlessly scrolling across Reddit as well as news articles. When something caught my eye,” said Redditor Domosnake. “I saw a promotion from AMD regarding its partnership with Bethesda for Starfield. Specifically, that the game came free with the purchase of select AMD CPUs.”

Long story short, after buying the AMD CPU, Corsair Vengeance DDR5 Ram 32GB, and a new Motherboard, this “free” copy of Starfield has now cost this gamer $734, around $634 more than it would to buy the Premium Edition for PC or Xbox Series X|S. Hopefully, Starfield will have a smooth launch and it will be money well spent for Domosnake.

Starfield will be released on 6 September 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Unless you pre-order the Premium or Constellation Edition, in which case it will be 1 September. Starfield will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass.
