Marvel's Spider-Man 3 is already breaking our hearts after speaking to its stars

Whilst Insomniac Games may not have yet officially confirmed the existence of Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, it certainly sounds as if it’s on the way.

If you’ve completed Peter Parker and Miles Morales’ latest outing - and I’ll warn you now, spoilers lie ahead - then you’ll have seen a certain mid-credits scene starring Otto Octavius.

Octavius was, of course, the villain of the first game who now finds himself locked away aboard The Raft.

In the scene, he’s visited by Norman Osborn who’s desperate to learn of Peter and Miles’ identities.

Norman asks what Octavius is writing to which he villainously replies, “The final chapter.”

Well, at last night’s BAFTA Games Awards, I had the chance to speak to Peter Parker and Miles Morales themselves, Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter, to ask them if they were at all prepared to say goodbye to their characters in this potential third and final instalment in the beloved trilogy.

“I hope that we never get sick, that I could do this forever until they put me in my grave,” Yuri said. “I want to be doing this for life.”

“We've made such an impact on so many kids and families that, you know, we want to stick with these roles,” Nadji added. “I want to say, ‘With great power comes great responsibility,’ and [these roles] have brought power to families and kids. We want to keep that journey a straight line, you know?”

Nadji went on to win last night’s award for Performer in a Leading Role.

Across this series, we’ve seen Miles and Peter go from mentee and mentor to being on a much more level playing field. I was interested to hear what the duo thought might be next for these characters.

“Oh no, it's still mentor [and] mentee, for sure,” joked Nadji. “Miles has three hairs on his chest.”

“He finally has a fourth one,” Yuri interjected.

“Just building off that, I'm still learning the ropes,” Nadji added. “Miles is growing older now. He's, you know, stepping into his own manhood, but it still takes time in your 20s and [at] 19 or 18, you're still a kid, going through the ropes of life in general.”

“Pete is always going to be there, and Yuri is always going to be my big bro for life. I'm here for the road,” he concluded.

“It's much less that we can't talk about it and much more that they haven't told us yet,” Yuri added. “But, you know, I mean Pete’s in a different place in his life, too. He's always worried that he can't let that responsibility of taking care of New York go. And now he's got this guy to, you know, maybe take over for a little bit. So I'm mostly curious. Yeah, he's a little burned out. I'm very curious to see where they take Pete next.”
