Dust off your PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2, you can now connect a PS5 controller to them with a new 8BitDo device.
While the PlayStation 5 isn’t short of classic games, most of which are playable through the right PlayStation Plus membership, it’s missing a few key titles from its library.

That being said, the selection is constantly being updated, like the other day when Ape Escape and MediEvil were added to the service, amongst other games.

But what can you do if the title you want to play isn’t there? Like the OG Resident Evil or Tomb Raider games? You could be patient and wait for them to be added eventually, or, you could play them on the original hardware with a twist, with a PlayStation 5 controller.
How you ask? With the latest 8BitDo adaptor, which plugs into your PlayStation 1 or PlayStation 2 console, and emits a wireless Bluetooth signal that your PS5 controller can connect to. Gone are the days of tangled controller wires, you’re living in the future now.
It’s even better that the button layout for PlayStation controllers has literally never changed since the first console, so you can enjoy your retro games without having to worry about button mapping, and as mentioned before, wires dragging haphazardly across your floor. That being said, it does come with an option to plug the controller in if that’s more your style.
However, if you want to commit blasphemy and play your PlayStation games with a Nintendo or Xbox controller, that's an option too.. The device supports modern Xbox wireless controllers for the Xbox One and Series X, the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, and even the Wii U’s controller.
