PlayStation 5 owners, make sure you never turn off this setting

Honestly, it's so much easier to leave this setting toggled on

There are a lot of ways to improve your PlayStation 5 experience, many of which are obvious for most of us. However, there are some tricks and tips that even the most experienced gamers are overlooking.

Our PlayStation 5’s are expensive pieces of kit, we need to protect them at all costs – this is why it’s advisable to avoid common mistakes that add unnecessary wear and tear. But what other mistakes are you making that’s hindering more than helping?

The most common is switching off automatic updates.

We appreciate that you don’t always want the hassle of installing updates – my Mac can attest to that – but it pays to turn auto-updates on. Even more so because, while in rest mode, the PS5 will continue to install updates without disturbing you.

In truth, there’s never really a good enough reason to disable this setting, but you’d be surprised how many gamers do. When you need to install updates like massive patches for Baldur’s Gate 3, it pays to allow them to automatically run in the background without you needing to think about it for another second. Trust me on that.

Another quality-of-life improvement that you can take full advantage of comes from a recent major update, designed to make gaming super easy. At least in terms of accessing your account. I, for one, am always forgetting my passwords, yet with this update you won’t have to worry about doing that anymore.

Knowing all these ways to enhance your experience will not only make gaming more enjoyable, but will also soften the blow of the hit PlayStation Plus is poised to take this April. We know there are plenty of amazing games still available, but if this speculation is proven to be correct, April is going to be such a sad month for subscribers.
