PlayStation 5 price cut leads to huge jump in sales, shockingly enough

PlayStation 5 console sales in the UK have spiked by 75%, all thanks to a price cut offered at select retailers.

If you still haven’t managed to get your hands on a PlayStation 5 now might be the right time to bite the bullet so to speak. Certain retailers in the UK like Amazon and GAME, are offering consoles and some bundles at a drastically reduced price.

Lucky customers can bag Sony’s latest console for as low as £399, with some offering games like Forspoken and Saints Row (2022) alongside it.

While the new price is temporary, going back to normal sometime next month, the savings have already had an effect on console sales. It was reported by GfK that PlayStation 5 sales have risen by 75%. This follows a steady decrease from the console’s initial retail price of £479.99, and as a result, the console is reportedly up by 63% week-on-week.

If the default PS5 isn’t what you’re looking for, maybe you’d be interested in the new special edition Spider-Man variant, you’ll have to compete with scalpers to get your hands on one though.

It’s been a great few months to be a PlayStation fan. Aside from the several high-value games on the horizon like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the console’s subscription service PlayStation Plus has continued to impress users with its expanding line-up. Several new console features have also been implemented/are on the way thanks to some new system updates, one of which will finally get rid of that annoying microwave noise the console makes when you turn it on.

In other news, it’s rumoured that Sony is planning to unveil a brand-new console very soon. Speculation suggests it’ll be a PlayStation 5 Slim, though insiders claim it won’t be slim at all.

If you’re in the market for a PS5, you should definitely take advantage of the latest deals, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better offer anywhere else at this point.
