PlayStation Plus drops so many new free games that subscribers can't keep up

Anyone else absolutely drowning in their backlogs right now? Despite the fact that I just finished the notoriously enormous Persona 5 Royal, I somehow still don’t feel any closer to finishing the ludicrous pile of games I’ve accumulated.

The quality of freebies dished out on PS Plus recently definitely hasn’t helped matters, either. Not only do we have the monthly Essential-tier games to contend with, but every month we’re also hit with a massive wave of stuff to play via the Extra and Premium game catalogues. Recent highlights for subscribers of the aforementioned pricier tiers include NEO: The World Ends with You, Horizon Forbidden West and Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition (bit of a mouthful, I know, but please play that game).

Over on Reddit, subscribers have admitted that they’ve been so spoiled for choice when it comes to new games to play that they don’t know what to do with themselves. Relatable.

“With all the choices available, does anyone else find it hard to choose a game to play and stick to it?” 82brighteyes posted. “Especially for older gamers like myself who had to save their money for one game. Then, that one game would be the main focus. I'm constantly starting games for an hour or two, then next time, trying something else. It's the same sort of thing as with Netflix. The last game I completed was the Final Fantasy VII Remake.”

Others feel the same: “Yup[,] the excessive amount of things available makes you suffer in this consumption based culture, I miss when I used to buy one game for my PS2 and grind it for like a month or two [and] even replay it before moving on, now I got like 30 games all unfinished and don’t now which to play,” Breadsticks-lover commented. “Absolutely. I don't have time to play all the games I want. When I do get time it's like half an hour here or there and I can't decide what to go for. Usually end up playing CoD for two rounds and then hating myself,” wrote the_hillman.

All things considered, though, having too many games to play is a pretty good problem to have. There’s definitely worse things in life.
