Red Dead Redemption 2 players are still starting new playthroughs 5 years later

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the gift that keeps on giving.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the gift that keeps on giving, with fans still replaying the story over and over again five years after it was released.

The award-winning Western is famous for being one of the greatest open-world games ever made, with characters and a narrative that’ll keep you in it for the long haul.

It’s also a surprisingly goofy game, as seen through the below wins and fails video

That being said, it’s also a long game. You could very well breeze through the main story like any singleplayer game, but it’s the exploration that keeps playing coming back, often surprising them with something they hadn’t seen in a prior playthrough.

It’s this quality that’s earned Rockstar Games’ masterpiece its esteemed reputation, and the sole reason players are in the double digits when it comes to different playthroughs.

One player, called Alternative-Buy-140 on Reddit said they’ve been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 for “two years straight,” and wanted to know if anyone else had done the same.

The answer was a resounding yes, with many players confirming they’d left their first playthroughs of the game behind long ago and had completed several others since.

Some didn’t even know which playthrough they were currently on, saying “I’m still going at it for the umpteenth playthrough. This game is my obsession”

Others were slightly more aware, with one saying they’d devoted over 1,200 hours across playthroughs, with Red Dead Redemption 2 being their “'go to' game” that’ll never go away.

Another even admitted to playing it on multiple platforms, saying “After beating it 6 times on Xbox I bought a PC behemoth and beat it 3 more times.” They went on to say they’re excited to do the same for Grand Theft Auto VI.

While Grand Theft Auto VI will undoubtedly steal thousands of hours of player time, Red Dead Redemption 2 will undoubtedly stick around, still having reasons to call players back for another playthrough.
