Spyro: Explore The Dragonverse trailer leaves fans stunned

Spyro: Explore The Dragonverse trailer leaves fans stunned

This is how we love to see our glorious purple boy!

We’re desperate for Activision to focus on a standalone Spyro game, but alas, that isn’t on the cards right now. Fortunately, there’s the Spyro: Explore The Dragonverse trailer to give us that much-needed purple dragon fix.

The fan-made trailer, which shows a glimpse at just a single level from the project, has left fans stunned at its potential. Although it isn’t quite as polished as an officially made game, the heart and soul of what makes a Spyro title is clearly there, with the fiery dude running around, taking names, and collecting games.

We think you'll agree Spyro: Explore the Dragonverse looks amazing

In all honesty, if you didn’t know this was fan-made, you’d likely believe this to be the early stages of a new Activision-developed title. I’m not alone in thinking this, other fans are just as blown away by how brilliant this trailer looks.

“This fan-made Spyro game is AWESOME,” said one overjoyed gamer – can’t you tell, they capitalised the descriptor to emphasise their excitement. Another viewer commented, “Cool! I look forward to seeing where this goes!” Before adding, “Hopefully Activision don't try to take it down as they have taken down a previous Spyro fan game a few years ago.”

We’re hopeful the publisher will leave this trailer alone too, simply because the fans are in need of a Spyro-only new project to hold on to. Yes, Spyro is officially back in Crash Team Rumble, but it’s fair to say that it isn’t the same as having the hero at the centre of the show.

Here at GAMINGbible, we’re forever grateful that fans keep the fires burning when the developers are focused on other avenues. Spyro: Explore The Dragonverse is a stunning feat of creativity born within the Unreal Engine by a single dedicated fan; it’s almost too wholesome.

Hopefully, the next time this creator makes a Spyro level, they’ll include the opportunity to finally hit Moneybags where it hurts. Fans will certainly be happy to see the “worst character in gaming” taken down a peg or two.
