Steam removing 2 controversial games from platform forever

Steam removing 2 controversial games from platform forever

The god-simulation games Godus and Godus Wars are being removed from Steam.

The god-simulation games Godus and Godus Wars are being removed from Steam, meaning it’s your chance to get them before they’re gone for good.

Led by Peter Molyneux, who previously worked on the Fable series with Lionshead Studios, the Godus games put you at the centre of a civilisation, where you can be as hands-on or hands-free with your followers as you like.

Have you seen our top picks for the greatest games of 2023? Take a look below!

Molyneux began work on the titles shortly after he departed from Lionshead in 2012, where he started his own game development company 22cans.

Both Godus games were highly praised by critics and fans, but unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, as they’ll soon disappear from the Steam store for good.

In an official statement, 22cans announced the removal of Godus and Godus Wars from Steam. The full statement reads: “Regrettably, due to an upcoming technical change to Amazon Web Services, affecting our ability to serve necessary game files to new users, these titles are to be withdrawn from the Steam store. Please be assured that existing players can continue to enjoy these games without interruption.”

Now as the statement says, if you’ve already bought the games you’ve got nothing to worry about, as you’ll still be able to access them moving forward. However, if you don’t have them bought by the time the titles get taken down, they’ll be gone forever.

That’s quite a shame as they’re great games, especially if you are into simulators like The Sims or City Skylines.

The one thing the statement didn’t address is when Godus and Godus Wars will become unavailable to purchase. You’d think that’d be important information to disclose but at the time of writing an exact date and time hasn’t been shared.

In the meantime, if the Godus games look like your cup of tea it’s highly recommended you snatch them up now before they’re gone forever.
