Starfield dev teases game features his favourite Bethesda main quest ever

Bethesda's Pete Hines has teased that Starfield features his favourite Bethesda main story line ever.

The hype surrounding Starfield is palpable. I’m sure you can sense it in the air - the final countdown is truly on. If you’re anything like me, I’m imagining you’re thinking, ‘I couldn’t possibly get anymore excited,’ but then Bethesda’s Pete Hines went and dropped a load of new intel.

As a refresher, Starfield is going to keep us busy for a while. The game has more than 1,000 planets for us to explore. Only around 10% of these will contain settlements and signs of meaningful life, but don’t discount the other 900. You’ll need those to obtain vital resources. What I adore about Bethesda games is it’s really up to you how you play them - and with a whole galaxy at our fingertips, Starfield sounds set to be our biggest adventure yet. You can decorate your own apartment, choose from various branching paths and factions … I could go on. But what about the main story itself? Well, you’re going to like this new tidbit of information.

Take a look at Starfield’s brand new cinematic trailer below. It’s chill-inducing.

Bethesda’s Pete Hines is currently at Gamescom, sharing the word on just how incredible he thinks Starfield is. He participated in an Xbox livestream, with the main talking points very handily summarised by Reddit user Dull_Caterpillar3153. During this livestream, Hines remained tight-lipped on what exactly the main story entails, but he did tease that it’s his favourite main quest storyline in any Bethesda game ever. Oo, I’m very intrigued.

That’s not all. Hines further teased that the game “doesn’t really start until after the main quest” so if you do blast through the main campaign, don’t worry. There’s clearly going to be so much more for you to do and enjoy. Hines further touched on the game’s unique remote settlements, the fact that your companions will fully judge you for what you do, and the game’s bounty system. Are you brave enough to disobey the law?

Hines recommended the boost pack skill, and advised fans to visit New Atlantis’ museum which explains the lore of the game. So much new info to digest.
