Anyone who claims that Sony and Microsoft don’t stoke the fires of console wars are clearly not keeping track at how relentlessly both try to outdo one another.
Case in point is the fact that Xbox has just conveniently given a price slash on its Xbox Series X just days after the PlayStation 5 Slim received a heavy discount. It could be a coincidence, but as one of my favourite anime always says, there’s no such thing.
You can purchase the brick-like Xbox X for £409.99, meaning you’ll enjoy a £70 discount on that bad boy. We know it’s not the biggest price drop ever to be announced, but that £70 saving is not to be sniffed at, especially as you’re getting the bigger – and arguably better – Xbox.

Now would be an apt time to invest in a new console if you haven’t got one already, because Xbox just revealed its next wave of free games for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. We could get into a debate about whether this month’s Game Pass is better than PS Plus, but that’s a fight you’ll have to have amongst yourselves. All we will say on the matter is that March is off to a tricky start for PlayStation.

There’s also the fact that the new Elden Ring DLC has finally been revealed in all its glory, showcasing a new ‘Malenia 2.0’ boss that’s terrifying. Consequently, if the Game Pass selection doesn’t move you to invest in a discounted console, we’d argue that Shadow of the Erdtree will.

The Xbox Series X for £70 less isn’t going to stick around forever, so it would be wise to snap up this deal rather than um and ah over it, only to discover you’re too late and its price is back to normal.
*Since writing this article, that price has dropped even lower to £359.99 when purchasing the Xbox Series via Amazon, so you really have no excuse to ignore this deal!
