If there's one thing I know we all love, it's a good bargain. Knowing we've saved money unites us. It makes us feel like we have a modicum of control of the capitalist monsters that rule our lives. Too bleak? Let me start again.
Saving money is always great, and I know you, dear reader, probably love to know exactly how much money you've saved. That's why I went ahead and added up the total value of the latest batch of free games from PlayStation. Because I love you.
Last month PlayStation announced Sifu, Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, Hello Neighbor 2, and, F1 2023 as the free games for PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers. Yesterday, PlayStation confirmed a whopping 13 extra games for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers.

The PlayStation Plus Extra games alone, according to my flawless math, add up to a princely £330 in total value. This is, of course, if you purchase the games digitally via the PlayStation Store at full price and don't wait for sales or buy them second-hand. Still, that's a chunky number that will maybe help you justify your ongoing PlayStation Plus subscription to your partner/parent/pet/self.

It's not a bad batch at all. I still firmly believe Marvel's Midnight Suns is a severely underrated game, and the lack of attention it got in 2022 was criminal. My hope is its stint as a PlayStation Plus freebie can help it find a new audience.

As for the rest? Well I'll be honest, other than Resident Evil 3 (which I wasn't crazy about) I haven't actually had a chance to play any of them. But maybe now they're coming to PlayStation Plus I'll have the chance. Or maybe I'll just start The Witcher 3 again. Who could possibly say?
