Gamer Forces PlayStation 5 Through Industrial Shredder In Hard-To-Watch Video

No, I don't know why you'd do this either.

The PlayStation 5 is finally out around most of the world, but we all know that there's an unfortunate number of would-be customers who've been having an incredibly hard time getting their hands on the next-gen console. Thanks to a combination of massive demand, a global pandemic, and opportunistic scalpers doing what they can to buy up what little stock there is, it's been a challenging few weeks.

Against this backdrop of disappointment, it's even harder to see the way some gamers have been treating their brand-new next-gen consoles. Earlier this month we reported on the well-known YouTuber who seems to have built an audience around smashing up expensive tech - including the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Now we turn, with dismay, to a different YouTuber who inexplicably decided to see who would win in a fight between their PS5 and an industrial shredder.

As you can see for yourself below (or via this link), the PS5 didn't stand much of a chance at all.

At the time of writing it doesn't seem as if this particular upload has gone down as well as the creator might have hoped. With 3.3k downvotes on YouTube massively outweighing the 845 upvotes, I think we can safely say that nobody really wanted to see this dude toss an expensive and hard-to-find console into a shredder. Especially when most of the people who don't have one would probably not be tossing theirs into a shredder. I can't predict the future or anything, but I feel fairly confident most people would plug it in and... play it.

The one silver lining here is that the PS5 and DualSense controller seem to be able to take a lot of punishment, and they really had to be forced through the shredder before they gave up completely. Good news for any of you out there who are concerned about accidentally dropping your PS5 into that industrial shredder you leave lying around, I suppose.

Between scalpers selling on next-gen hardware for stupid prices and people who are gleefully destroying their own consoles, I'm starting to lose hope in humanity. Someone do something good, okay? Thanks so much.
