Pokimane Announces Indefinite Break From Twitch

Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys’ has announced that she's taking a break from Twitch to focus on herself and her life offline.

Twitch superstar Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys’ is quite easily one of the most recognisable people on the Amazon-owned streaming platform. With over nine million followers (at the time of writing) and an adoring fanbase, it’s fair to say that she’s very, very popular.

However, as reported by Dexerto, fans are going to be without Anys for some time now, as she’s suddenly announced that she’ll be taking a break from streaming. She’s currently given no indication of how long this break will be.

While you're here, be sure to take a look at some of the best livestream wins and fails right here.

“I’ve been feeling in need of a mental reset [and] some time to focus on myself / my life offline. [In my opinion] proper breaks are essential to one’s health / career longevity, and I’m so grateful for the support y’all have shown me over the years,” Anys wrote in a note posted to Twitter. “Thanks for putting me in a position where I’m able to take time off like this.

“Looking forward to coming back refreshed and ready to make more content. Take care, stay hydrated, [and] see you soon!”

Earlier this year, the streamer faced a 48-hour suspension from the platform as a result of a copyright strike. In an attempt to join in on Twitch’s divisive TV meta, Anys had been streaming herself watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, which, y’know, can’t have gone down well with the copyright holders given that she was broadcasting the show for free to around 25K concurrent viewers.

The following month, Twitch’s former director of creator development, Marcus ‘djWHEAT’ Graham, blasted Anys for risking streaming the show: “It still goes down as one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen on Twitch!” he said at the time. “Like, literally. Not afraid to say it. Was shocked that someone as large as Poki and as representative as a role model and runs a talent agency… actually one of the stupidest f**king things I’ve seen in the history of the platform. I could never understand why anyone would ever take the risk. I don’t get it.”

Anyway, the good news for fans is that the streamer is clearly planning on coming back at some point, so fear not, you won’t be living a Poki-less life forever.
