Red Dead Redemption 2: Undead Nightmare Origins is the best mod we've ever seen

Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the greatest games ever made, and it breaks my heart that we never got any official single-player DLC.

Younger readers may not believe me, but there was a time when Rockstar Games used to make the best single-player DLC around. Titles GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption received massive expansions that offered new adventures and fun twists on the original games, and Undead Nightmare was the best of them all.

Released way back in 2010, Undead Nightmare was an expansion for the original Red Dead Redemption in which John Marston suddenly found himself fighting off waves of zombies in a thrilling survival horror adventure. It was amazing, and fans always expected Red Dead Redemption 2 would surely get a similar DLC. It never did.

Fortunately, there's an incredible mod that does what Rockstar won't. Dick Hertz and Eki’s Undead Nightmare 2 – Origins mod is close to being the real deal that you'd never know it wasn't official. Better yet, it's completely free.

"A plague has struck New Austin, causing the dead to rise from their graves and wreak havoc among the already savaged lands" reads the Nexus Mods description. "Some have lost hope, worrying that the spread is too quick to stop; while others will not go down without a fight.

"The locals have set fire to the towns in attempt to kill the undead, some have taken to higher ground to protect their families, while others were left to perish in the streets. Local shop owners either fled or boarded themselves inside, to fend off against looters, who have stashed away supplies throughout the town. The law has bigger problems to worry about. New Austin has been struck the hardest, small numbers of the dead still roam the five states but the law has it mostly under control..... for now."

The mod completely overhauls the game, adding new music, weather effects, and more. Towns have been destroyed, the wilderness is more dangerous than ever, and undead monsters stalk the land. Since Rockstar clearly has no intention of ever giving us a proper Undead Nightmare sequel, I absolutely recommend you check this mod out at your earliest convenience.
