A single-player focused Battlefield game is in development

EA is currently building a new team to help Ridgeline Games create a single-player Battlefield campaign, according to a new report.

Despite the fact that one Battlefield project only just got scrapped, a new one is already in the works.

In case you missed it, it was recently announced that EA has stopped development on Battlefield Mobile. In a statement released at the time, the company said that the team is “hard at work at evolving Battlefield 2042, and are in pre-production on our future Battlefield experiences at our studios across the globe”. It now sounds like a single-player focused title is one of these so-called future experiences.

Take a look at some of the funniest wins and fails from Battlefield 2042 below.

GamesIndustry.biz reports that EA DICE is currently building a completely new team to help Ridgeline Games (led by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto) create a single-player Battlefield campaign. At the same time, another EA studio, Ripple Effect, is apparently working on a “completely different” experience.

“Our decision to build out our single-player team here at DICE is a proactive approach that arms our global teams with the resources they need early on as we look ahead to the next Battlefield experience,” DICE’s vice president and general manager Rebecka Coutaz said. “We have an immense amount of strength and opportunity within our three global studios, with each team bringing their own set of deep franchise experiences. Now, we are able to expand opportunities and benefit from new talent that will help Ridgeline write the next chapter for the franchise.”

“Our vision coupled with their experience with the franchise is going to see us build a single-player campaign that will engage players in new ways while also remaining true to the classic elements of what makes Battlefield truly unique,” Lehto said.

No further details about the single-player campaign have been revealed, but we can only hope that it'll be released with a little more polish than 2042. That won't take much, though.
