Spyro The Dragon 4 is looking more likely than ever before

Spyro The Dragon 4 is looking more likely than ever before

Toys For Bob have seemingly dropped yet another Spyro The Dragon 4 teaser, sending fans into a frenzy.

Well, 2024 is certainly off to a hopeful start. Spyro The Dragon fans are convinced that a new instalment is finally being teased.

Oh how we all adore that little purple dragon. Alongside Crash Bandicoot and Croc, Spyro was easily one of the titans of my childhood. Given that I was a low single-digit age when Spyro The Dragon first dropped, I can’t say that I was any good at the game, but I did enjoy playing it regardless. That’s why I was utterly delighted when Spyro Reignited Trilogy launched back in 2018, allowing me - like so many others - the chance to revisit those childhood classics, and actually display some skill this time around. Several years on though, fans are itching to find out when, or if, Spyro The Dragon 4 is due out.

Take a look at the very fun Spyro Reignited Trilogy in action below.

Last year, Spyro celebrated his 25th anniversary which felt like the perfect opportunity to bring the character back. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case and the occasion passed by with very little fanfare. Next up in December, Toys For Bob posted a photo of an Unreal Engine 5 presentation attended by devs. The presentation itself was blurred out, but given that it clearly had a purple hue, I’m imagining you can see why fans started speculating.

Spyro did technically make a comeback in Crash Team Rumble, but being a playable character is a far cry from being the star of the show. That brings us to the latest spark of hope. Over on the Spyro Twitter account, an image of the little fella was tweeted along with the captions, “2024 Motto,” and, “You gotta believe”. Yes, fans are taking this as a Spyro 4 tease.

“Please tell me this means what I think it means,” SpyroUniverse replied, while an excited thegamersjoint added, “Nah you know what you’re doing.” Striklights echoed all of us, writing, “Don’t give me hope.”

I do have to point out that it’s the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese calendar, which could explain why Spyro is being featured in a 2024 post. Then again, Chinese New Year kicks off on 10 February so it would be a premature post if it was related to that so perhaps it is a genuine tease. Please Toys For Bob, put us out of our misery.
