'Squid Game' Season 2 Officially Confirmed By Director

'Squid Game' Season 2 Officially Confirmed By Director

Squid Game 2: Squid Harder

It looks like Squid Game is officially coming back for a second season. This probably won't come as a huge surprise, given the Netflix show's immense success, but it's good to know for sure that Seong Gi-Hun will be back for more. Let's just hope he makes it out alive again, eh?

The exciting news was confirmed by the Korean drama's writer/director Hwang Dong-hyuk in an interview with the AP.

“So there’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season," he said (as translated by Forbes). "So I almost feel like you leave us no choice! But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen. So I will promise you this…Gi-Hun will come back, and he will do something for the world.”

Netflix has yet to officially comment on the second season, but if Dong-hyuk is up for more, there's absolutely no reason the streaming giant wouldn't want to support that.

The director previously teased season 2 before it was confirmed, suggesting that the next phase of the adventure would take place outside of the games and follow Seong Gi-Hun's attempts to take it down once and for all. We'll just have to wait and see.
