Stardew Valley's new update is even bigger than you think

Stardew Valley's new update is even bigger than you think

The 1.6 update is a chonk

The next update to Stardew Valley is on the way and while we initially thought it would be a smaller update squashing a few bugs, it seems that it’ll be larger than we thought.

The developer of the game, Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe, recently appeared at a concert of the game’s music in New York and received a huge applause at just the mere mention of update 1.6.

Stardew Valley is the game that keeps on giving

The update, scheduled for release 19 March for PC, is “stressful, but it’s also exciting” according to Barone. The update is apparently “ready to go” but needs a few last-minute tweaks. Speaking on the update, Barone said “The releases are the most fun part of game development. It’s when you actually see people playing it and talking about [the game] and sharing their screenshots. So I’m really looking forward to that. It’s also a time of high intensity.”

The key piece of information that Barone gave seems to be that the update is bigger than expected which is never a bad thing. He commented on the size of the update saying, “What I released is just a little bit. There’s a lot more of the update than people think. It just adds so much stuff to all the different aspects of the game.” Understandably, Stardew Valley fans are thrilled, though this may be the final big update for the game as Barone moves on to the next project, Haunted Chocolatier.

Regarding the update, players will find new festivals, more late-game content, new items and crafting recipes, new outfits, and, on PC, support for eight-person multiplayer. Of course, this is on top of the bug squashing and general updates to the game’s quality of life. There’s still plenty of life in the farming simulator and players can rejoice that their favourite game is getting bigger.
